Advancing the Profession of Commercial Interior Design
Combining realism and vision, IIDA defines opportunities for our Members to maximize their professionalism. The Northern California Chapter of IIDA supports a vibrant, active, diverse community of more than 900 members across six locally focused City Centers. For some, it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.

The IIDA Professional Interior Designer membership is designed for practitioners of interior design who have passed either the NCIDQ or the ARE, and includes professional interior designers and professional architects. The National Council for Interior Design Qualification, NCIDQ, serves to identify to the public those interior designers who have met the minimum standards for professional practice by passing the NCIDQ examination. IAD - International Association of Designers aims to promote and create a global awareness for good design through worldwide design initiatives, events and organizations. This year the IDA has introduced NEW categories to acknowledge the evolution of the design industry across architecture, interior, product, graphic and fashion design disciplines. They streamlined the submissions process, and had more engagement than ever from student members—with doubled entries from students, the chapter was able to double the scholarships they awarded. Sponsorships were provided commercial time, product spotlights, and the opportunity to present awards. By adopting a unified theme each year, we address the most important needs of our local community and focus our work on the communities and organizations where we can have the greatest impact. IIDA has Membership opportunities for every career level including Students, Designers, Architects, Educators, Manufacturers and Representatives.
